"Sherlock Holmes": The Official Trailer
I don't care what the stuffy Sherlock Holmes buffs think. As a revisionist-loving Sherlockian of more than 40 years, I think this trailer for the new Guy Ritchie movie looks like a whole lotta fun. And the film will probably result in tens of thousands of new Conan Doyle readers by year's end.

I'm very fond of both Robert Downie and Sherlock Holmes, and the trailer certainly looked amusing when I saw it in a theatre at the beginning of the week. Tending in this case toward the stuffy side, though, I think I'd have voted for playing it straight.
"embedding disabled by request". As of 5/31/09, when I tried to see it.
I found it on Apple Movie Trailers, and liked it. Hopefully it won't be as appalling as League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was.
Nothing about the trailer suggested this would be anything like as excruciatingly awful as LXG. In general, I think Moore has been better served by Hollywood than he does, but the LXG film took a wonderful, wonderful series and turned it into utter dreck. This Holmes film clearly has its tongue firmly in cheek, something it would be hard to say about the LXG flick, and that fact alone bodes well for it.
I guess I'm one of the few fans of LXG the movie. I adore the Moore books, but I also enjoyed the movie's steampunk look and got a kick out of most of the casting.
Casting and look? I'm with you. Just didn't like the reworking of the characters.
